When most tweens were saving their allowance to buy clothes, shoes and other things they wanted, I was saving mine to purchase new hardware for our family bathroom. I thought that was normal at the time, but now I realize not so much, lol. I should have realized, well my parents should have realized, that after picking out our new wallpaper for our shared bathroom as a second grader, and then adding paint to match, something more was going on. Growing up, I changed my room constantly with paint and rearranging furniture, you know, the things I could afford to do at the time. Then moved on to other rooms in our house. My love for design and creating spaces I love, not only for myself but for family and friends, continued to grow the older I became. I didn’t graduate college with a degree in interior design, my degree is in business education so I truly thought I would never be able to do what I truly love without a specific degree saying I can. My how things have changed. After spending years designing personal spaces, staging homes for higher resale, and helping friends and family out with my time on consultations and plans, I decided it was time for me to dedicate myself full-time to what I was truly passionate about.
Throughout the years, one thing I have realized is that a great design doesn’t have to be expensive. I save where I can and spend where I need to. Everyone deserves to have a space they love and a home that fits their needs. Whether that is a complete renovation or just a rework and reorganization of space, I am always honored to help clients meet their needs and reinvent their spaces. I am also a licensed realtor which I’ve seen can be a great help with real estate clients trying to visualize what a potential home can be.
I have worked on so many different projects from mid-century modern to Texas hill country, rustic cabins, luxury bathrooms, and modern farmhouses, you name it. I have an appreciation for it all and believe that design is personal and shouldn’t be judged. It’s about what makes us happy, what makes my clients happy. With that being said, my personal aesthetic is straight out of a Nancy Myers movie. I love mixing old and new. I love antiques and occasionally stop by a thrift store. I love marble, all things blue and white, brass, natural wood, ginger jars, wallpaper, monograms, candles, toile, heirlooms, tartan plaids, and classic and timeless designs. I guess you could say I’m probably a bit of a maximalist. My husband just goes with it and I think my daughter is finally beginning to appreciate it. So here’s to creating spaces we love, no matter what your design style is!
